Title: Getting Started???
Post by: newburns on January 06, 2013, 06:35:36 AM
I have done some LIGHT reading into SARK/Sail, but I am unable to find a getting started howto that will demonstrate workflow/equipment.

I am starting my way into the telephony part of server management, and will be soon converting an organization to VoIP. I have no idea to do it, but a year ago, I had no idea how to set up a server either. Now, I have multiple SME implementations all over.
If someone can assist, what equipment do I need to look into.
Analog wise, there are two analog signals, one for phone and one for fax.

Hi there

Firstly, if I were you I would get a copy of "Asterisk, the Definitive Guide" and give it a read.  This will give a good grounding in telephony and Asterisk.  For your telephone lines you will need either an ATA (analogue terminal adapter) or an analogue telephony card but for now, you can just put up a copy of sark and play with a couple of softphones to see how it all hangs together.

Kind Regards
