Hi there,
I need some advise how to solve a rear problem.
Situation:
I have two SME servers (7.x and 8.x). The 7.x was a RAID machine (3 disks in RAID5) :-)
The motherboard crashed a few days ago and now I want to save the data on the RAID disks with the help of the 8.x server.
Which RAID/SME expert wants to help me out?
Please give me some clear steps?
Thanks guys!

install the disks on the new server, boot from SME8 cd with rescue option..
if your hds are ok, SME should see the raid array and start it
in any case, you should have a backup, right?
please be aware that if more than 1 hd has been set as failed, your data are lost.
finally, this is the wrong forum, I'll move this topic to SME Server 8.X one

Thanks for your reply!
Imagine that the RAID set had it's own SME.
Won't be a problem to rescue a SME7.x RAID set with SME8.x.
Is there a sequence requiry?
And what about cable select and master/slave settings?
Is the rescue an automatic action or should I address the drives hdx?
Kind regards
