is there a yum repo to install java on sme to run a minecraft server ?
Just don't want to install java if it's going to break something else
-
AFAIK no, but you can follow, for example, this howto:
http://www.webhostingsupport.info/installing-latest-jre-6-on-centos-5/
hint: google -> centos5 jre setup
-
I've installed JAVA6 and JAVA7 on SME7 and SME8 servers.
Never broke anything.
I just follow standard instructions (from SUN/Oracle site) to install.

Great thanks
I was considering installing a Ubuntu server but after reading all the stuff on setting it up with all things I wanted I ditched that idea
I have to say I really appreciate the simplicity of SME server even more now.
Thanks again this is great news

Now if I can just figure out what I have to do to setup minecraft inside and ibay
