I was thinking of making a remote SME Server monitor that would check the health of a SME server - primarily focus on its email capabilities and I was wondering whether this has interest for you server admins?
Initially functionality:
- RBL Monitor to check whether your IP or your ISP, if you you smart hosting, has been listed
- SMTP monitor to check whether you server is online and ready to receive mails.
If any of these events would occur the admin (or configured mail address) would receive an email alert.
Later I was planning, to enhance the email system of the SME server with more advanced inbound spam filter rules that I have developed over the years for my hosted spamfilter company. This would include additional SpamAssassin Rules, validated ClamAV Signatures but also additional plugins to qpsmtpd. The sme-unjunkmgr provides some quarantine functionality but this I will also enhance.
Interested in getting the free monitoring, for your server, then the site can be reached at:

Based on the interest I will make a SME contrib that gathers all this, but I just want to see whether there is interest first :-)
Best regards,
Jesper (aka Knuddi)

Spent the day making a website that allows for yourself to register and add servers for monitoring. The monitoring service will remain FREE for all SME servers that you would want to monitor. Right now it does SMTP checks every 10 minutes and DNS Blacklists once a day.
The site can be reached at:

Enjoy,
Jesper

Thank you Knuddi for the wonderful service!
I was impressed with the speed of it, where I immediately received an email as soon as my service came up (was disrupted by the provider).
Best Regards,

Thank you Jesper

signed up - looks very good.

The "registration" email would benefit from a link to the site. :-P
-
signed up - looks very good indeed, Thanks Knuddi!

Pleased to hear that it works for you...
@brianr,
Do you mean the mail you receive when adding a server (domain) or the one you get when registering to the site?

When adding a domain, and indeed when you get an alert. It is just nice and easy to click on the link from the email, rather than searching for the site in bookmarks etc.

Hi
I came to a web site site today doing some searching for other things but the listing of blacklist sites may help you
I do not know.
but here it is any way

Hi Purvis,
Appreciated - I have many of these lists as part of my tests, but removed those that were unstable or giving unpredictable results. Anyways, I will take another look at the list and see whether its time to add/remove some.
-
Knuddi, It was just a FYI posting.
-
Thank you. I just sign up!!!
-
And there is more than meets the eyes, not only do you get an email when mail server is unreachable, you also get one when services are back online.
-
Made a small Google Maps overview on the servers that have signed up so far - spread well around the globe :-)
