I have 4 computers (2 running Win98, and Win ME and Win95 machines) all connected to SME 5.1.2. The computers are set to logon to the Domain server. This has been working fine for several months, except now the Win ME machine will not logon to the domain (it still receives it's IP from SME), but the server is not visible in Network Neighbourhood and does not resolve the web. The other computers can still use all services.
The Win ME machine will show the Win98 machines in Network Neighbourhood, but not the Win95 or the server.
All computers have the same config TCP set to Obtain IP automatically, Client for MS Network with logon to Domain ticked and with file and printer sharing enabled.
I have tried replacing the network card but the same problem persisted.
What is wrong? is it something to do with Win ME? the computer hasn't been shutting down properly and have had to turn it off manually, has this corrupted the computer, or unrelated?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Peter

Peter,
I have had similar problem with computers not be able to logon to the e-smith domain. I didn't get much of a response from the buletin boards, but I think I have found my problem, I still haven't resolved it all the same. During startup of the server I notice that smb and another program were failing. I am assuming this is Samba and is some how related to other computers loging on to the server.
Perhaps you could start there and if all programs are working fine, I would suggest back the data on the ME machine up and then blow it away and rebuild it from scratch.
Hope it helps
Cheers
Jeremy

First of all you need to be double check that the machine is actually getting a valid IP address from the server.
Run "winipcfg" release all, then renew all. If you get new valid addresses, and your internet still does not work, check your browser settings.
If you get an error renewing your addresses. Try giving the ME machine an unused static address from your server pool and set all the other values appropriately especially DNS, remember NOT to use WINS for now.
Hope this helps
