Title: Installing Affa on SME 8

Hi. I am new to SME and Affa. Can anyone point me to instructions to installing Affa on SME8? I know someone who has experience with installing on an earlier SME version and it worked well, but no success with SME8.

Did you check the wiki - AFFA (http://wiki.contribs.org/Affa) - has details for SME8

What doses it mean "no success" ? I manage various configurations (at least 9) of Affa on Sme 8 with both dedicated server or NFS and they all work fine.
The Affa Wiki page as stated by TerryF gives some further directions to have Affa working on Sme 8 too.
 
Try and and report eventual problem.

I have just installed Affa using the wiki instructions on a brand new SME8, and it seems to be working fine. The initial backup is happening as we speak.

last version of Affa is available thru the repo smecontribs, wiki needs some update : http://mirror.canada.pialasse.com/releases/8/smecontribs/i386/repoview/smeserver-affa.html

Also a great vote of thanks to the Team at Contribs for migrating Affa into the sme8 repos. In line with comments by Brian Read, I also installed and commissioned an Affa server from the repos earlier this week, backing up 4 different machines.  All backups have been successful (performed twice a day), WIN/WIN for the community.

Sorry to just be checking back in, and thank you all for responding.

http://wiki.contribs.org/Affa was the first place we went to (though I don't remember seeing the section heading "Obsolete way to install"). We also went to http://wiki.nikoforge.org/Affa_Quickstart_Example.

Will have to do install again to see how far we get.
