Title: Shuttle SV24 & e-smith?
Post by: Will on August 03, 2002, 05:14:41 AM
Anyone have or had e-smith running succesfully on a Shuttle SV24? Thinking of buying one to make a sort of high powered Cobalt Qube clone for myself and save about 800 clebbies in the process.
The spec looks OK, not bothered with the sound and video but slightly worried that it may not hack being on 24/7 with it being so tiny - but the Qube can do it???

Yes, works fine. 5.12 + patches anyway. I have a spare disk with E-Smith loaded and swap it if I need to do a demo or need a sandbox to test. With respect to 24/7 it normally runs all day under Win2K and I havnt had any heating issues.

I have a sv24 running 5.1.2 with patches, no probs. It does get a little warm and it's noisey as an airplane engine. From reading the news groups, this seems to be an issue with the sv24 in general. but other than that it's fine.

From looking at the Shuttle web site I thought they said it was quiet?

Also, did you see they have a P-4 and AMD unit available now?

These are pretty sexy. Thanks to Will for pointing this out. I am getting ready to order one for myself!
