mmm any one else notice "SME 8.1 - Windows 8.1" released same month. Will windows 8.1 also be beta?
HAHA
Yes i did the upgrade and saw that it was updating to a beta version after it was too late to stop. But all seems to be good. Lucky only on my own production server not on any of the servers i support, was going to update them on sunday, maybe will wait and see.

This post states "Do *NOT* update your SME 8.0 production server" yet reading the bugzilla comments suggests that the update of this particular beta package is no big deal and implies we can update anyway.
Will there be an post clarifying this as I feel sure the current situation could be confusing to many users.

Only the original poster, RequestedDeletion, can modify the subject of the post, or I believe an admin can change it if considered of significance.
The system is not upgraded to sme8beta1, a file that specifies the release version is upgraded, which as suggested elsewhere is purely cosmetic.
There was also a suggestion made to hold off upgrading until this minor issue is fixed.

As was just stated the smeserver-release package was released incorrectly, however for production 8.0 servers there were no unplanned functionality updates.
I apologise for the error.

This has now been resolved with today's update.
