Title: Related to obsolete release
Post by: David Yip on October 09, 2013, 08:37:46 AM
Dear Sir/Madam:

I just want to talk about the obsolete release topic. The official support is stopped is ok. But is it ok to open the forum for users to help other users peer to peer. Sometimes & some reasons that cause user can not upgrade the server immediately. You can mention & highlight that no official support but let users can discuss & solve some problems by themselves. (Sorry, my english is not very good).

Something like that , I find the error 'Corrupted database :Not a zero terminated string in file' in selective file restore sme 7.x. I just find the answer in forum is 'not supported & please use sme8'. This is not a good feeling. After that , I try to fix the problem by myself and find that I can rename or delete the files dar-catalog in the backup USB Harddisk. The problem is fixed & I want to share it to others(more that 500 users read that post) and then find the forum is closed & not able to share it. Please open the forum again if possible. Thanks!

Dear David,
I have flagged your request to a Senior Dev.  My understanding is that re-opening the VS7 forums is not an option, sme7 is dead and buried, unsuported and basically insecure.   All users should have moved to sme8 by now.  Sorry for disappointment.
