Dear all,
Need some advice from experience users :
I am trying to restore from a Backup (via console's option on a USB HD) made on a SME 7.5.1.
The new server is a SME 8.0 x64 setup, the USB backup go thought without problem, but the old A/C setting never shows up in the new server.
Then I follow the instruction on the page : http://wiki.contribs.org/Backup_server_config
Copy all these to the new server as instructed.......
/etc/e-smith/templates-custom
/etc/e-smith/templates-user-custom
/etc/group
/etc/gshadow
/etc/passwd
/etc/samba/secrets.tdb
/etc/samba/smbpasswd
/etc/shadow
/etc/smbpasswd
/etc/ssh
/etc/sudoers
/home/e-smith
/root
copy all files listed and issue the command : # signal-event pre-restore
After copied all files, and I have chmod all files as it is in the old server.
do # signal-event post-upgrade; signal-event reboot;
Now, all the user's Directories in "/home/e-smith/files/users/*" are there, users password and group and other info are well set...... but the moved user's info are not shows in the server-manager pannel !!!
Is there any command I have missed or anything done wrong ??
Or I have to copy some "db" files to the new one to update the server-manager ??
Need some advices on it.....
Best regards,
Paul

Firstly backup & restore should work, so for your original problem you should lodge a report at bugzilla. I recall there was a problem with console backup or restoring, so you may have experienced that. Search bugzilla, I think it was fixed recently. You may need to upgrade sme8 before restoring.
Re trying to do a manual backup & restore, it looks like you have not done all the required steps in the correct order, see here & follow it precisley (& in the same sequence).
http://wiki.contribs.org/Backup_server_config#Manually_transferring_configuration_information
Somewhere I read it is better to upgrade your old server to sme7.6 before going to sme8.
There were recent forum posts by myself about resetting the sme7.x repos to find the centos vault & obsolete trees, so search for that. See
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php/topic,50196.msg252267.html#msg252267
Also you should ONLY be restoring to a clean install of sme8 that has not been setup with users or had previous restore attempts made to it. So start afresh by installing sme 8 again.
