Hi all,
I helped a friend install E-smith 5.5 in a middle school today. At first the HD would'nt boot as I kept getting a message IRQ probe failed.....hda lost interrupt. After looking on this list I found that selecting E-Smith-up when it's booting it would work. It's obviously a problem with the way E-Smith has identified the Pentium 4 motherboard. Nonetheless, when I select E-Smith-up...it works. My problem is how can it get it to default to E-Smith-up so I don't have to babysit every reboot. I tried editing the fragments in custom-templates to change /etc/lilo.conf I edited the fragment 80default and changed it from default=esmith to default=esmith-up and it sticks since I expanded the template, but it still doesn't select esmith-up by default. How can I get the non-smp image to load by default. Please give me some steps to follow...and be sure to tell me exactly which fragments to edit as I'm having major trouble finding the right ones.
Thanks!

Log into the console as root, ie. if it prompts type root and the root password, else if the sme console is running type ALT-F2 and then the username/password from above.
Then run
/sbin/lilo
And now esmith-up should have an asterix next to it.

i have the same problem, and it actually put the asterix next to the wrong one.
How can i change it so it puts it near the e-smith up???
