Holidays are fine to work on our beautiful product :)
I have accepted and developed a new feature request, see http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7489
The work is not really mine since it is Thierry Quaak who had done the work.
The development has stopped 9 years ago.
Many thanks to Thierry, and particularly to Jpp who gave tips, advices, and the idea to work on this contribs.

- Last release of e-smith-dhcpmanager-1.5-1, thanks a lot for his work
If you want to test it, you have to download
http://mirror.de-labrusse.fr/smeserver-testing/5/noarch/smeserver-dhcpmanager-1.5-3.noarch.rpm
Please try it on a VM first, we are in a beta status and report your issues to bugzilla
-
Please test this new version smeserver-dhcpmanager-1_5-10_el5_sme
yum install --enablerepo=smedev,smecontribs smeserver-dhcpmanager

Will test as soon as possible.
Many thanks for your job.

the netsend protocol need to be enabled in each windows XP OS
You have heard well windows XP only since for w7/w8 the IM protocol is called msg.exe, fully incompatible with Linux, and usable only with windows ultimate edition.
I'm looking a bit to replace the IM protocol with something cross platform, but it is not the first goal to this contrib, so it is not a top priority...(for me to push all contribs to sme9contribs tree is a biggest priority).
By the way i plan to modify the scanner of your network to get the computer name, if we want we could have also the kind of O.S on your network.
what are you waiting for with this kind of contribs ?
-
Intalled fine in a test machine.

This would be very interesting: we still face the problem that sme is not able to ping machines by "real" name and these feature might be a little step further to solve this problem too.
Many thanks
Nicola

Hi all
I didn't follow the development, but I'd like to see this feature (http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2388) working..
does this contrib solve this problem?
TIA
-
not at all, the goal of this contribs is to manage your dhcpd server only, but if i understand well you want to use the dhcpd.leases to give real name of computer to the dns server.
I'm right ?
I guess this can be a nice feature in SME9, can you lead the development and propose patches ?

everything should be explained in the bug itself: when a client get an ip from SME, SME uses the pc00X.localdomain.tld format and not the real client hostname
I guess this can be a nice feature in SME9, can you lead the development and propose patches ?
AFAIK everything should be ready.. I mean: bug was created when SME8 was in beta (or alpha) stage..
in any case, I will take a look asap and I will contact you

you should take care about the changelog (http://mirror.pialasse.com/releases/8.0/smedev/SRPMS/smeserver-dhcpmanager-1.5-10.el5.sme.src.rpm) in the spec file and all other bugs (6016 8105 8111 8113 8120 8121 8122) which depend of main bug
Don't be afraid you can ask what you need if your are not at ease.
