G'day all,
I am trying to get my Windows 8.1 Pro workstation to connect to a sme 8.1 Beta 2 server.
I have applied the win8samba.reg changes. Windows tells me it cannot find a Active Directory Domain Controller for my domain.
Is there a workaround for this?
Reading various postings and bugs seems to suggest that others have been able to get this working with Win 8.0
Can it be done with Win8.1 please?
Thanks for your time,
SteveH.

Active Directory is not supported by SME server.
SME server provides a Windows NT Domain Controller, so select that option in Windows.

Thanks Janet. I had already consulted those pages.
My problem turns out to be that I had created a Domain Name with a "." in it.
Apparently there is a bug that prevents Win 8.x from connecting to a Samba 3.x domain as Win 8 assumes it is an Active Directory Domain.
Found this from here: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Registry_changes_for_NT4-style_domains
So, I now have my Win 8.1 connected to the SMEServer 8.1beta 2 Server!
Thanks for the help.

Why SMEServer 8.1beta 2 ?

No special reason. I have been testing different releases to see what works. I had tried 8.0 but had the problem above. Tried 8.1 in hope. However, the issue was not the release, just in my naming decision.
I do not plan on using SMEServer 8.1beta 2 in production.
