Title: Install SME 8 on IBM X3800 with LSI 1015 Raid controller
Post by: maufacc on January 21, 2014, 11:45:21 AM
I am reinstalling on a IBM x3800. I am having trouble with raid controller.
In the RAID bios I have defined two virtual disk with raid0, just to make the raid by software on SME.
If I install 8beta 5 that I've the installation goes ahead.
But if I try to install 8.0, or 8.1, it tells that it cannot create / partition. I guess having trouble with controller driver.
Installing 8beta5 and update it is the same that install 8.?

Thank you

Maurizio

Disable all RAID in the BIOS, & let SME server configure software RAID1

Different beta versions use different kernels, modules & drivers than the final or more recent releases, so driver support etc will vary between releases. The underlying CentOS version changes between SME releases.

driver (i.e. hw support) depends on kernel version..

check if your hw is RH certified for RHEL 5

btw, RAID0 it's E V I L and should be avoided..
