Bonjour
I'm looking for a list of known compatible hardware for the koozali
website.
Indeed i have in mind to display a list of server that WE use without
problems, and if possible sorted by constructor with a price
(approximately). Obviously i do not want the redhat compatibility
list, no i want to know what is your server.
I would that a visitor can see what he can use...from a hp microserver
to a monster of powerful
So i would exactly what is the name of the product you use, the
constructor, a link to the product (please save my time), with an
approximative price, or not, eventually the type/number of processors...
Of course all hardware more of ten years are disqualified
Where i want to publish it :

Please go ahead

I use HP Microserver N40L systems, 2 at home and 3 at remote sites which I support.
All have 4Gb RAM,
4 have 2 x 2Tb HDD, one has 4 x 1Tb RAID5
All are Server-only so use the on-board ethernet (Gbit)
For the two at home I have been using AFFA for backup but I realise questions have been raised about it so I have started to use Backup to USB from the Server-manager while I investigate.
The remote systems use Backup to USB.
All systems run headless.
I have had no hardware problems with the servers. In fact, the only thing I have had to trouble me is a power-pack failure on one of the USB disks.
I bought the systems over a year ago for about $300 (Australian) each from an Ebay shop close to me. I wanted that so that I could take them back under warranty for service if required - it has not been necessary.
I believe the HP N36L and N54L are also good servers for SME 8.
Cheers
Ian

Yep, N54L no problems
Following UPS also no probs, NUT works fine..
Eaton 3S 550/700 UPS
Eaton E NV 1000 VA / 600 Watts UPS

Just on the UPS, the 550 with following, a N40L (threed drives), Billion 7400nl, Intellinet 8 port switch approx around the 35 min mark of life and then auto power down via NUT, at approx $110 in Oz, cheap for the peace of mind.

The IBM ThinkCentre M52 looks after a computer classroom with 12 PCs, its acts as a storage place for student files and also as a print server, it also has a moodle install that currently is not used.
The Dell was just a home setup, mine :-), now retired and sitting in the corner as a spare..
There is also another IBM a Lenovo ThinkCentre M57 Desktop (tower) that is a in a not for profit org with a half dozen users, it hosts their website, backups, and MySQL database that holds its small museums catalogue using a MSAccess frontend from a number of local PCs, also setup to allow remote VPN access for after hours work.

Thanks, for all these explanations, i keep them but i'm wondering if we should write some references more "recent"...but anyways they are known computer...
Continue please.

Mine is too old :-)

My personal Home Server:
- Computer Case : 1 x SmartTeck EZ Plug
- ITX Motherboard :1 x Asus AT3GC-I
- Memory : 1 x Corsair 2GB DDR2-533
- Hard Disk : 2 x Seagate 160GB
- 2nd Network card : 1 x Netgear PCI Gigabit Ethernet
- Generic CD-Rom reader (just for installation)
Total price = around 200€
My office Server:
- Server case: 1 x SuperMicro SuperChassis 811T-300B (Black) - http://www.supermicro.com/products/chassis/1U/811/SC811T-300.cfm
- ATX Motherboard : 1x SuperMicro PDSMi-LN4 - http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/PD/E7230/PDSMi.cfm
- Memory : 4 x ATP 1GB DDR2-667
- Hard Disk : 2 x Seagate 320GB
Total price = around 600€
As NAS, I use Nas4free associated with the Home Server on another SmartTeck box but with 2x2TB HD (ZFS zraid1) and Freenas associated with the office server with 4x1TB HD (2 x ZFS zraid1) on another Supermicro 1U server.
Connected to the NAS, I use an "Eaton protection station" at home and another Eaton UPS with "rack kit" for the office.
it's possible that Supermicro could build server with Koozali SME Server already installed on the hard disk.

Yeah i want sexy hardware

I would official servers rather than assembled servers, if you have links about that.
I Rather prefer that we can display all_in_one computer, a geeks he does not need about us for thinking about on what will be his server.
