Title: YUM Update errno -3 Error performing checksum on a fresh install
Post by: allanr on March 03, 2014, 11:31:06 PM: Hi there, I'm doubting this is a bug, but I can't nut it out. each install I've done in the past has been relatively painless .. anyway .. this is a fresh install and if I try and grab any contribs it fails as per below. I can wget the file but yum won't .. I've done a clean .. Any ideas for what I may have forgotten / overlooked ?

I retried, but have already tried. It completes, then when I run yum it updates, but throws exactly the same error.
( That is to say it updates the fastest mirrors ) then fails :)

There were some problems reported with the mirror repo ID files, so wait a day for mirrors to sync & try again

but your error message is different.
If the problem still persists, then one of you should report a bug & the other should add their details & experience to confirm the issues exists more widely.

Post by: allanr on March 05, 2014, 12:23:20 AM: No different today, but I noticed version is 8.0 .. I'll grab the 8.1 ISO .. It looks like I downloaded the 8.0 ISO on the same day as 8.1 was 'official', so it may just be a bit screwed up .. I'll report back once I have it installed.

Post by: allanr on March 05, 2014, 02:30:49 AM: So that worked... I updated to 8.1, did a yum clean all, and presto, it updates without a hiccup.

From another source it was suggested that the sha checksums are not being calculated due to the difference in the python-hashlib versions.. which may be relevant and if you are stuck on 8.0 might be worth a try as a local yum install..
