Title: Kernel panic - not syncing: IO-APIC + timer doesn't work!
Post by: fpausp on March 10, 2014, 09:51:32 PM
Tried to install sme8.1 64bit as virtual machine under proxmox and got:

Code: [Select]
..MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
Kernel panic - not syncing: IO-APIC + timer doesn't work! Try using the 'noapic' kernel parameter

If someone like to do this, It was possible with the kernel parameter:
sme noapic

Is there any Info about this ?

Is this a bug ?

I still have this ugly problem with virtual sme8 64 bit under proxmox...

I have to use noapic kernel parameter, is this a bug or not ???

No its not an SME8 bug, it installs fine on stand alone hardware

I would suggest its an issue with proxmox, although I have been able to install sme8 on a proxmox box, I didn't like it so went back to ESXi

OK TerryF, thank you for your comment... Is sme8 working without Problems under ESXi ?

ESXI 5.1 and 5.5
SME7.# - SME8.# and SME9.#  have all been installed and used, currently with mainly sme9 beta testing etc.

Used to do a lot of testing etc in lead up to SME8.1 release.

OK TerryF, thank you... I have an existing ESXi 5.1 with ms sbs 2011 and think about to use proxmox and sme8.1/SOGo instead ...
