We are a small company and use SME8.1 in server only mode with fetchmail and thunderbird as email clients.
Thunderbird is connected through imap.
We want to use Zarafa with webbased email clients - webapp.
We have set up a test server with the above specs and installed Zarafa according to this howto:
http://wiki.contribs.org/Zarafa_on_SME8 we used version: zcp-7.0.13-41388-rhel-5-x86_64-free
The SME server is working, emails are present in sme-webmail.
In Zarafa there is no email showing. We can send new emails and emails to my domain are deliverd in Zarafa.
What is missing or wrong?

Please explain in more detail. 'In Zarafa there is no email showing' is very vague, for webmail is showing you the emails, and that is zarafa.

Sorry for the confusion, I wiil try to explain:
We can see the email with Horde via https://server/webmail
We want to use Zarafa - webapp. But when we log in in https://server/zarafa or https://server/webapp
there is no email in the inbox.
Looks like email is getting via Fetchmail to Dovecot Imap but not is not picked up bij Zarafa.

Did you enable Zarafa for users?
-
yes, i did for all users:
config setprop zarafa-server GlobalForward enabled
/etc/e-smith/events/actions/qmail-update-user
-
Disabled webmail in server manager?
Once Zarafa is installed and functioning, all default mail mechanisms like webmail (Horde etc) will no longer work.
Is zarafa running (all services, ps -A) take a look at the log over at /var/log/zara directory
Since you are still able to use Horde, it seems the me that Zarafa is not running or installed properly

Webmail was enabled in SME, set to off

It was the webmail setting in SME panel. When set to disabled, new email is going to Zarafa.
No I just have to figger out how to get the existing email to Zarafa.
Thanks again for your help.

imapsync is the answer
be aware that once you have your email in zarafa, it will be quite hard to migrate back to another server.. all IMVHO

Stefano,
I would value your elaboration on that statement. Can you tell a bit more on this so we can catch this on a wiki page please?

I love this war between sogo and zarafa :)

'we love you too' ;-)

RequestedDeletion: there are many posts where I talk about zarafa..
zarafa is a great product, its web interface is better than M$ one, people love it
but zarafa is an exchange replacement.. i.e. it's designed to work with/for outlook (and just this should be enough to say "NEEEEEXT", IMO)
it's an exchange replacement and so you have email stored in a big mysql database.. it doesn't matter if attachments are on filesystem, every email is stored into a big blob..
even the error messages are M$ style..
in any case, migrating from zarafa to something else (and "something else" doesn't apply to anything running on windows) must be done via escamotages.. i.e. imapsync, for example
many other groupware suites (SOGo, Egw ecc) are only an "interface".. mails are stored in plain, well known, universal maildir format.. and there's no need of "proprietary" imap/pop/smtp services running.. SOGo uses standard imap and smtp..
you can install sogo (no need to disable webmail, no need to touch anything), use it, try it, remove it, without any issue.. everything is still there..
in any case, as I said (too) many times, this is my opinion.. if you want to use imap (let's say you want to/must use thunderbird or evolution or anything on your android), you don't need zarafa.. and maybe you don't need SOGo too.. SME is enough
finally, even if windows will remain unbeatable on pcs, we can still make this world a better place simply stopping using outlook as a mail client (and everything it can/should not do) :-)
using SOGo, if you tomorrow move to OSX or linux, you'll have everything here, in the same way, same UI, same features..
