Title: Database errors, crashing server
Post by: EdelingF on March 28, 2014, 05:42:03 PM
Since the end of 2013 one of my virtual servers (Virtualbox) regularly crashes. Don’t know why, I can’t find what causes it.
The last couple of weeks it starts with a database error which gives a database error on my Wordpress websites. I can login on a terminal and when I try to reboot, everything freezes. The only way to restart the server is by a hard reset, which result in an harddisk error, which can be fixed by fsck.

boot.log.20140328174225 (after todays crash) is empty
mysql.log is empty
secure.log shows a lot (every minute) of these messages: crond[4237]: pam_unix(crond:session): session closed for user apache

Does this ring a bell to anyone?

Yes Stefano, I know, sorry....

I really don't know what database error. People told me the website was down, I looked and the on screen message was database error. After a reboot I can't find any evidence.

I have the latest Virtualbox installed on a SME 8.1 server. In Virtualbox I have two (SME8.1) virtual servers: one webserver, one fileserver.
The fileserver does not give any problems, the webserver does, regularly

Nothing changed since, but I remember I installed Crontab at the end of 2013 because time got out of sync. But I don't use Contab anymore, because the time syncing problem was solved after a update.
