Title: Kernel problem
Post by: TerryF on March 29, 2014, 08:34:28 PM
Not sure of effects on SME

Be aware there is a problem in the latest kernel  2.6.32-431.11.2.el6.x86_64 that produces the following error when you try to mount a cifs share. CentOS Bug (http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=7048)  Red Hat Bug (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1068862)  See comments 37 - 40 of the Red Hat bug

mount error(5): Input/output error
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

Going back to the previous kernel 2.6.32-431.5.1.el6.x86_64 avoids the error, Centos are aware and have raised a bug with Red Hat.

There is a fix out see Bug details above.

Current SME9 kernel 2.6.32-431.5.1.el6.x86_64

Latest Yum update brings it to  2.6.32-431.11.2.el6.x86_64

I edited /boot/grub/grub.conf  and set default=1  (not 0) and I rebooted to previous kernel.   When I ssh with putty commands like mc or ls hang the session.   Win clients can't browse shares with either kernel.

EDIT:  Jumbo frames works and so does the older kernel.  All good now on SME 9b3.
