Well ian has just released the SME Server 9 beta 4 this night and it is a great collective thank that we have to give to him and for all those who have invested themselves in this goal.
However we have a lot of bugs which need verifications http://wiki.contribs.org/Verification_Queue some are trivial, other are less, please ask if needed.
if you want to download the iso
http://smeserver.bhs.mirrors.ovh.net/smeserver/releases/testing/9.0beta4/iso/
Do not forget that WE make together a collective work and if some of us are able to program, we need you to test and find bugs....Heartbleed is here to remember us that there is never enough tests before to release packages.
What you should do if you want to be the hero of the day, install sme9b4 in a VM (virtualbox, kvm, vmware...), play with it, find bugs, look at bug verifications and fill the content to bugzilla.

Current total is 29 bugs waiting for verification.
Would be good to get the number down a lot this week

Somehow all the mirrors seems to be at least 19 hours old.

For those who want to give a try in bug verification you can take some bugs which are trivial :)
at the moment, repositories have issues, so you could play with ' yum update --disablerepo=smeaddons,smeextras,smeupdates'
8239 e-smith-ibays Add new PHP settings and SSRequireSSL by db command http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8239
8312 e-smith-base Remote Access panel should check available IP in DHCP range http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8312
8298 e-smith-base Remote Access panel should check available IP in DHCP range http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8298
you should take time to read http://wiki.contribs.org/Bugzilla_Help and use the template to answer it is quite easy.

The mirrors should be syncing up now, buildsys regenerated the repository tree yesterday and the top level mirror has synced. Current status can be seen from http://mirror.contribs.org/mirrors/ at this time 9 are synced, 7 are old, which means that yum can still have problems until your closest mirror is synced.
SME Server 9 verification queue: 25
-
Mirrors are synced up and properly populated.
Outstanding verifications: 21
We need to get to ZERO to have RC1 - it's now up to the community.
-
Getting 21 verifications done should be as easy as picking up dog shit..:-) except its not a task that many leap to with a lot of enthusiasm..
However unless you are happy to stand in the occasional pile of dog shit when tiptoeing through the tulips, aka a bug, do at least ONE verification...climbs down from his pulpit.
See here for a How To (http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:QA:Verification) if you are still uncertain, do what you can and someone will tidy it up..but at least do ONE...
Just write in the bug that YOU are doing the verification...
-
You are welcome to play at 'adopt a bug for the weekend', ask all what you need in the bug report, and this when you will have time, let's go to verify that all is working well (no log noise, no errors...)
quite easy :)

It just shows what can happen when someone is prepared to clean up the little piles of crap left hidden for you or I to step in when frolicking in the park, Greg Swallow take a bow, you have done more than your share.
15 left, that's all, just 15, how many using SME Server out there, just 15 to go..
