Title: sme8 vs sme9
Post by: ElFroggio on April 17, 2014, 09:17:07 PM
Hi,

The last time when sme upgraded from sme7 to sme8 there was no advance warning (less than a week, if I remember correctly). I realize that this was also related to the closure of centos4.

I also realize that it's a lot of work and resources to maintenance multiple repositories, updates...

What kind of time-frame will we have to migrate from sme8.1 to sme9?

Thank you

Syv

SME8 will be around and supported as long as Centos supports the 5.x series. Then again, there is no planned upgrade path from SME8 to SME9. It should be done by a full supported backup method from SME8 and a full restore to e newly installed SME9.

Preparation for migration from 8 to 9 should be with data, custom templates and contribs
