Title: Where does the webmaster email go?
Post by: brianr on May 02, 2014, 03:37:38 PM
By default where would emails sent to "webmaster" go?

I have tried sending to it, and do not get a bounce, but it did not appear in the "admin" account (which is what I expected).

I presume I can re-route it using an alias, but we are missing an email sent to "webmaster".

By default that address does not exist on sme server

Sending to it from an internal account, I immediately receive this message back from
MAILER-DAEMON@yourdomain.com

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yourdomain.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<webmaster@servername.yourdomain.com>:
Recipient unknown

yes, I was mis-lead (or mis-lead myself), apparently we do have a "webmaster" alias setup, the recipient came through asking about the "strange" email he'd just got.

Sorry to have bothered you!
