Title: LDAP
Post by: Thomas Kristensen on August 14, 2002, 03:44:14 PM
Hi,

I have installed a SME 5.5 in server and gateway mode. Whenever I try to add a contact in my addressbook through webmail I get the error "Failed to connect to the specified directory.". I presume that this means there is something wrong with LDAP, but what is the problem and what can I do to fix it??

Thanks in advance,
Thomas Kristensen

did you search the forum and look at the bugs section?

I just installed 5.5, and discovered this same error. I reviewed the bugfix article, added Update 2 for 5.5, and have the same error, again. Any ideas?

Clean install on an Intel-based system. Nothing else added - only the install and the Update 1, then Update 2.

Check the settings on the "E-mail retrieval" settings page:

E-mail retrieval mode: Standard
Delegate mail server: (leave this blank)
Secondary mail server: (leave this blank)
POP user account (for multi-drop): (leave this blank)
POP user password (for multi-drop): (leave this blank)
Select sort method (for multi-drop): Default
Select sort header (for multi-drop) (leave this blank)

By saving these settings I was able to view the "Local LDAP" under Directory Search...

Not sure how it will act if you configure any other way. Not even sure if my findings will work for you.
