Title: Certificate for connect imap via Outlook 2010
Post by: detlevp on July 14, 2014, 07:04:00 PM
Hello, can someone tell me what I need to do so that the message with the certificate  no longer appears, when accessing IMAP via Outlook? Is it mandatory to use a public certificate?

Greeting Detlev

Have you tried to install the certificate on Internet Options> Content> Certificates?

What is the certificate message that you're getting?

self-signed certificates are one problem, expired certificates are another, and certificates whose names don't match the hostname you're accessing are yet a third...

Other than that, you should have the option when looking at the Outlook certificate error to "install" it on your computer.  If not, try browsing to webmail on your SME server using Internet Explorer, and install the certificate from there.

The 'resolution' section of this Microsoft KB describes how to 'install' the certificate from within Outlook:

I would add to configure ALWAYS outlook's accounts using the real name for your server, i.e. yourservername.yourdomain.tld

once you installed the certificate you won't have any issue

My servers are running in a virtual environment under ESXi. The SME server is router, mail server and should actually be a domain controller. But do not go more for Windows 2012 R2. The SME server is accessible at domain.com. The Windows server servername.office.domain.de. Does your statement, if the Windows server would be running under the same domain (domain.com) that the security question is no longer called?
