Hi Selintra
I'm experimenting with the Debian install for V4, and have run across a small bug with the latest package (I've not tested anything prior).
Attempting to modify the SSMTP configuration from the SAIL GUI fails until I chmod 666 the file /etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf. The error is "can't open /etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf".
Otherwise this is looking very nice indeed.
Cheers

Hmmm
Thought we'd fixed that. For now, just give /etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf ownership/group of www-data:www-data and it will be fine.
Kind Regards

Thanks for that.
Might this have had something to do with the install order? I installed the ssmtp package after SAIL.

Yes that is correct.
If you had installed ssmtp first then the sail installer would have set the ownership it needs. However, there is something a bit "hackish" about changing file ownership on third party software so we have changed the way we access the file. It just hasn't made it out the door yet.
We can't make ssmtp a sail dependency because some users may want to use other MTA offerings.
Kind Regards

Okay, great. For the time being, why don't you update the installation instructions. At the moment the SSMTP install is after the main SAIL install - which is how I ended up coming across this bug.

May I ask what the Debian install has to do with the SME forums please?
Would it not be appropriate if the Sail/Selintra website/community could deal with these distro specific issues?

Sorry, this is just where I usually post :-? Will keep things SME-specific from now on.

Isn't this section of the forum called "SME VoIP (Asterisk, SAIL etc)" therefore the etc. includes pretty much anything to do with the SAIL distro regardless of the base system, it's the petty things like this that drive people away from the forum.

Correct, hence the SME part referring to anything to do with SME Server (afer all these are the SME Server forums), not SME's in general.

yes, it is.. but look at the name.. it says "SME VoIP..."
therefore the etc. includes pretty much anything to do with the SAIL distro regardless of the base system
I disagree.. the "regardless of the base system" is incorrect.. here we discuss about SME and VoIP on SME..
, it's the petty things like this that drive people away from the forum.

au contraire mon frere.. redirecting people on correct forums:
- helps (redirected) people because this is not (likely) the right place
- will keep clean this forum from OT and topic hijacking..
I have nothing against Sark Devs and their developement on DEbian, but here we are talking about SME
