Microsoft have changed IMAP compatibility in Outlook 2013. Users can no longer specify where sent and deleted email goes. It can however do this with a GMail account using XLIST or special-use folders. Outlook can magically determine which folders should be used for what purpose.
With SME 8.x this is not the case because it seems dovecot 1.0.4 does not support XLIST or special-use. Outlook then defaults to storing sent and deleted mail at the workstation which is useless for backups.
I would love to move away from Outlook clutter all together but unfortunately 90% of Userland do not agree.
Is there a way to get this working in SME 8.x or SME 9?

Ah, Michey$oft - where do we want to make you go today??
Lookout!!
Have you looked at the newer dovecot used with SME9?

I had a quick look and it seems that SME9 uses Dovecot 1.4. As far as I understand XLIST is only available from Dovecot 2.1
Is there and easy way to upgrade Dovecot with Yum or something?

I have a work around for the Outlook 2013 issue.
- Setup the IMAP account in Outlook 2013.
- Create the folders "Sent Items", "Deleted Items", "Junk E-mail", "Drafts" on the root of the IMAP mailbox in Outlook.
- Delete the IMAP account from Outlook. (You have to setup a new pst for default delivery to do this for some reason)
- Now add the IMAP account to Outlook again.
In my case Outlook found the folders automatically without creating local sent, deleted, etc folders. (It seems that Outlook doesn't need XLIST or special-use to find the folders automatically)
