Title: Experiences with Braintree for on-line payments on server?
Post by: holck on September 21, 2014, 05:41:15 PM
I want to make it possible for visitors to a server to make on-line payments, and one of the options I'm considering is Braintree (www.braintreepayments.com). They have a Perl SDK, but unfortunately it requires a newer version of the Perl LWP module (5.805 < 6.02). I can use PHP instead, I guess, but I'm more comfortable with Perl.

I'm also considering PayPal, but I don't want to require my users/customers to create a PayPal account.

Does anyone here have good advice or suggestions?

No direct experience with Braintree, but PayPal doesn't always require users to create a PayPal account in order to make a payment.  Not sure of the details, but it may be tied to using a business account rather than a personal account.

I note that Braintree is a PayPal company too; not sure if that makes a difference.

Jesper, not hijacking this thread, but would you like to have a go in helping the contribs.org team out with your perl skills? If so, please send an email to volunteers@contribs.org, and you'll be contacted asap.
