Hi,
Just would like to know if there is a way of changing the "Server role" from gateway mode to just server mode.
http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:Administration_Manual:Chapter2
Im looking of using a separate router for DHCP and traffic management and would like to disable the second NIC on the server and just use a single one.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
John

Hi Terry
Thanks for your quick reply. As per the guide it says:
To change configuration settings, you have set during install, at a later date you can login as admin user to your server console and choose the option to Reconfigure your server. You will be take through the configuration routine just like during installation. Make your necessary changes or use the Keep option to preserve the settings you have set previously.
I am able to get to console, but how to i start the reconfigure process? Do i have to boot from the original Install Disk or is there a way of getting there through the console?
Thanks
John

Once you have started the console from the cli either locally or remotely using a utility such as putty, select option 2 "Configure this server" change settings as per the wiki.

See this wiki entry on the console and how to get to it http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:Administration_Manual:Chapter6

You may be missing the point that you login as "admin" not "root", the passwords are the same system password though.
-
you can login as root too, then
console
-
and of course if you read the relevant wiki section it explains that as well :-)
