Title: Restoring backup from 7.5.1 to 9.0
Post by: lars-erik on January 01, 2015, 08:46:48 PM
I installed a new server 9.0 and restore backup from 7.5.1.
And now I can“t log in to webmail. In messages i can see this
PHP Fatal error:  Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'DateTime::__construct() [<a href='datetime.--construct'>datetime.--construct</a>]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'Europe/Berlin' for 'CET/1,0/no DST' instead' in /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Horde/Date.php:539 Stack trace: #0 /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Horde/Date.php(539): DateTime->__construct() #1 /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Horde/Date.php(590): Horde_Date->format('Y-m-d H:i:s') #2 /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Horde/Alarm/sql.php(143): Horde_Date->sqlDateTime() #3 /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Horde/Alarm.php(275): Horde_Alarm_sql->_list(false, Object(Horde_Date)) #4 /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Horde/Alarm.php(321): Horde_Alarm->listAlarms(false, NULL, true, true) #5 /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Horde/Notificati in /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Horde/Date.php on line 539

I can send and receive e-mail with Thunderbird and my androidphone.

Isn't the proper way to upgrade going from 7.x to 8.x and then to 9.x ?
AFAIK restore from 7.x to a 9.x are not supported, only from 8.x to 9.x

no.. AFAIK it works, at least for me (3 servers migrated from 7.6 to 9 via smeserver.tgz method), no issues at all

lars-erik

Pretty sure the recommendation was to upgrade to sme 7.6 before upgrading to sme 8 or sme 9. There are differences between 7.5.1 & 7.6 that were significant.
You should also remove (delete or move)  custom templates and user custom templates either on the  sme 7 box before doing the backup, or on the sme 9 box after doing the restore & then do
signal-event post-upgrade
signal-event reboot

Thanks everyone for your support.
I made a fresh install of SME 9.0 and restored manually, now everything works nice.

No, that shouldn't be necessary. It should "just work", and since it didn't, lars-erik should have created a bug report, so that the problem can be identified and fixed.
