Title: android - putty - connectbot
Post by: hawk on March 09, 2015, 02:58:04 PM
hi

i have a new android netbook and want to use it to connect to my servers.
I normally use putty for this from a windows device.

after a bit of reading i found most people use Connectbot.
Works fine when i connect to root, but as soon as i try to connect to the admin it auto disconnects.

What does anyone else use when connecting from an android device or any idea why connectbot disconnects.

thanks
john

And what happens if you log in as admin? IOW, can you replicate the problem?

Unusable how? My guess is it is a character set/terminal emulation issue. Correct?

well.. think about a Samsung S2 display and a virtual keyboard without Tab :-)
and touching screen doesn't have any effect..

in any case, selecting a menu item via its number does work, no problem, but it's all but "user friendly" :-)

ok messed around with connectbot, really nice for root connections. but no good for admin connections.

so i bombed it and loaded https://juicessh.com/ (https://juicessh.com/) works fine both for root and admin connections, as i am using an android netbook i don't have the tab problem

thanks for all the help
cheers
