I am currently running Owncloud 7.0.4 on my SME 9 very well using Software Collections. I see that Owncloud 8 is out and I would like to know if it is advisable to upgrade to Owncloud 8 and the best way to do the upgrade. Thanks

I don't know if it's advisable as such, but I did. I didn't take notes of how I did it, but IIRC I just followed the instructions in the owncloud docs: https://doc.owncloud.org/server/8.1/admin_manual/maintenance/upgrade.html#manual-upgrade-procedure The updater app will upgrade from one point release to the next, but not from a major release to the next.

Thank you very much. I'll give it a shot.

I have done it and it works fine as far as I can tell - just follow the standard upgrade procedure and keep the old folders config and data (as far as I remember)

Thanks for the follow up. I upgraded a few days ago following that process and it seems to be working fine for me, too.

Also upgraded PHP to version 5.5 with http://wiki.contribs.org/PHP_Software_Collections as 5.5 is a minimum requirement!
Do it work with 5.3x?

Do any of you want to add your experiences to the owncloud wiki page pls?
