Title: New ISOs - help required
Post by: ReetP on June 18, 2015, 12:37:58 AM
We need to try and get the new ISOs out for v8 and v9 and we really need some help to try and finish off some of the blockers for this.

You can see the issues here :

http://wiki.contribs.org/Dashboard

We need people to test and verify bugs in particular these :

v8
http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8711
http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8603

v9
http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8658
http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2388

There are also a number for both v8 and v9 that need verifying - this is an important part of the Q&A - whoever writes the patch cannot then test it.

You can see verifications awaiting here :

http://wiki.contribs.org/Verification_Queue

So if you want to see a new ISO then please lend a hand - if you post on the bug you want to have a go at helping then someone will help you.

ok,
would you be kind enough to give us a quick summary of the subtasks for 2388 (http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2388) (125 comments) ? you or the reporter ?

You can see the original reporter from bugzilla :

Reported:   2007-01-27 20:51 CET by Shad L. Lords

As far as testing goes then it is not my real field..... the original bug desciption describes the issue :

"It wouldn't be hard to parse the dhcpd.leases file and feed the data into tinydns.  The hard part would be determining when to restart tinydns/dnscache. "

Terry did a verification at http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2388#c87 which shows the basics of what he tested for.

However there was an issue considered for duplicates mentioned here :

http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2388#c95

You then need to follow Stephanes mods from about http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2388#c116 onwards.

This is not one for the faint of heart, but I am sure you are good enough to do it ;-) Generally for verifications it is worth a read through the entire bug a few times to familiarise yourself with it. This one is unfortunately long and complicated but if you have a go and post on the bug then others will help and advise.

HTH.

Please respond/comment/suggest on each individual bug in bugzilla. The discussion and history of a bug needs to be in one place only. Bugzilla is a critical part of our development framework and as such all responses on a specific issue needs to be recorded there.

Thanks.

Generic stuff is OK here, but discussions on specific bug stuff should be on the bug tracker.
