I have a Zarafa set up as per the contrib documentation however I can't get my Calendar to populate data.
I have tried both the secure and non-secure ports, I have ensured that the certificate has an exception in Thunderbird and checked bug 5410 which is no longer relevant as the issue wasn't present.
If I navigate my web browser to the caldav directory and log in I get the option to download an ics file.
Below is the ical log and when you tell Thunderbird to sync the calendar these lines are repeated constantly:
Thu Jul 23 12:18:53 2015: [19768] 192.168.254.92 - garth [23/Jul/2015:12:18:53 +1000] "OPTIONS / HTTP/1.1" 200 0 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/38.1.0 Lightning/4.0.1"

Any ideas?

Not sure it is relevant but with thunderbird&lightning i use the plugin sogo connector with caldav calendar.
I said that because you don't speak about it.

Stepdl, Sogo connector only does CardDAV needed for remote address books. Remote calendars (CalDAV) are supported by Lightning out of the box.
Girkers, no further idea, sorry, as I use egroupware instead of zarafa. But if I browse to the CalDAV address manually I don't get a single ics file but a page linking to multiple ics files, one for each appointment.
Do you have set up the correct address or protocol?

My bas you're right ;)
Carddav != caldav
