I have SME version 5 setup on a computer that I would like to use it as a file/print server for our network. Currently we are using Windows 2000 Active Directory as our directory service. I know that I can allow anonymous access to the file shares and the printing, but would like to use the Quota management feature in SME to tell me what users are using space and how much and to provide some security for certain printers. Is there a way to get SME to use the 2K directory instead of it’s own directory for authenticating users and using those user names to build the quota management list and for rights management to the printers?

Go to Samba.org and read up on it. It will only work if you are running Active Directory in mixed mode, as Samba accesses the directory as an NT 4 server.
