Title: need some help with CHMOD
Post by: neggard on September 30, 2015, 01:47:14 PM
I new to SME and have just install SME in server mode. Just want a webserver.

I create two i-bays for mny two domains.

In one i-bay I tried to install MyBB but it stop when it need some write permissions in upload & avatar folder.
I connect to my server with filezilla and tried to CHMOD to 770 but get permission denied.

When I enable SSH I cant write own command just see the menu with some options.

What should I change so I can CHMOD my files with filezilla?
Or should this be done on another way?

Well I found it myself very fast, I change the write permission in my i-bay to group but that will affect all folders, is that OK or is it a security issue?

You should not need to be changing permissions in that way ie 770.
You probably have ran into a SME server security feature, & you need to disable it

see
http://wiki.contribs.org/DB_Variables_Configuration#Apache_server_ibay_specific_.28httpd-e-smith.29
in particular see PHPBaseDir & UpMaxFileSize

& also see the various PHP settings

For many examples please search these forums eg on PHPBaseDir
