Title: How to migrate Windows machines from SME8 to SME9
Post by: Jáder on October 08, 2015, 04:01:30 PM
I have several WinXP, win7, Win8 connected at SME8 server running as domain server.
Now I´ll plan the migration to new HW running SME9.

I´ll reinstall all SW needed, copy data (and sync e-mail) .
But later I´ll have to deal with move computers connected to domain @ SME8.

What can be done to avoid to have to touch any/all computers ?
Can I change SSID of SME9 to same as SME8 ?
Any other ways ?

Thanks

Jáder

if you run a backup-> restore, you don't have to touch anything

I did it using affa too, never had a problem..

I think I cannot any of these options: I've installed Oracle (free version) on SME9.
Now wanna migrate users and data from old sme8

Yes, I copy /home/e-smith/ibays to new HW... most of them (excluded TRASH DIR) and e-mails.
I´m keeping them sincronized because the workstation problem have forced to delay final migration.

Let me ask again: if I change Domain SID to same as old HW, will be the computers be recognized and recognize new HW as old one ?
