Title: installing contribs after fresh install of SME9 and restore from backup from 8.1
Post by: calisun on November 21, 2015, 04:39:51 AM
OK, I did a fresh install of SME 9_64 and did restore from backup from 8.1
everything looks good, and now I need to reinstall contribs.

My question, before I continue,
I had several Horde contribs installed:
- Kronolith - Calendar
- Nag- Tasks
- Mnemo- memos.

What I am wondering is, if I reinstall these contribs, will they not create new database and override entries I already have there?
How can I save all the entries I have there in calendar, tasks and memos?

No, they won't

No, they won't

We'll, not if they are designed properly. Not all contribs are created equal, so keep a backup, and verify whatever you do.

One way to prove/verify is to install a test server, restore your backup to that, install new versions of contribs you require & see/check/test what happens.
At least that way you can troubleshoot before you install onto a live production server, & hopefully have any/all issues resolved by the time you do switch over to a production server.
