Title: Mail relay configuration for devices
Post by: dhalliday on April 09, 2016, 12:45:31 AM
All,

I am a little stumped on this one. We use google apps for our main email service, what I want to do is configure our SME server as a mail relay for our devices such as printers, scanners etc.

The problem is if I configure SME with say a it@mydomain.com account I can have the printer or other device as the SMTP server but the SME server tries to deliver the mail locally to say dhalliday@mydomain.com (this is logical as the SME is sme.mydomain.com).

I have a half work around by using notmydomain.com for the SME but then the notifications come in from the wrong place.

So in short what I am looking for is a way to set up SME server as a mail relay for our printers, sending email as if it is it@mydomain.com but actually deliver mail to user@mydomain.com out on the internet.

(In sendmail days I would set the masquerade as mydomain.com strip any incoming domain so it appends my masquerade and send it out to the internet for all cases disregarding local delivery.) I do not know how to do this on SME however.

Can anyone help?

Many Thanks,

Dave.

Search for "delegate mail server".
