Title: Is my server in danger?
Post by: calisun on April 16, 2016, 11:07:56 PM
I just found this on my server log file:

Apr 15 21:31:07 x pptpd[1043]: CTRL: Client 123.151.42.61 control connection started
Apr 15 21:31:07 x pptpd[1043]: CTRL: EOF or bad error reading ctrl packet length.
Apr 15 21:31:07 x pptpd[1043]: CTRL: couldn't read packet header (exit)
Apr 15 21:31:07 x pptpd[1043]: CTRL: CTRL read failed
Apr 15 21:31:07 x pptpd[1043]: CTRL: Client 123.151.42.61 control connection finished

Is this something I need to worry about?

No, just the usual attempts to get access to a server via PPTP VPN. Just like any other attempt to log in at a service with a bad username and password. Either disable PPTP (in server manager set VPN clients to zero) or use very strong passwords.

It's life as we know it....
