In a previous post I mentioned how my groups appear to be broken (I'm getting error messages...I can't get my iBays to work right and the /etc/groups file is missing some entries such as slocate). In the event that I have to do a total reload....could I do this? What about backing up to desktop (my users haven't done too much yet as school starts tomorrow). And then doing a fresh install and then restoring from desktop? Will my users and all their data be preserved? Will my broken groups go away or will I simply restore the same probelm all over again?
