Title: SME Server 10 alpha1 DVD-ISO install problem (Pane is dead)
Post by: Foa on August 10, 2016, 09:45:59 PM
The text Pane is dead will show up in  left down corner of the screen.
And the installation stops.

Hello,
A few weeks ago a friend of mine tried to install SME10 and had this problem on his PC.
To understand the problem I installed the latest version "smeserver-10.0-x86_64.iso" and I also had the same problem.
Is there anything to change to override?
Thank you.

Hi

Going to need a bit more info here..

What is the hardware the install is being made to, specs, model, mem everything, is it RH compatable?
What is the install medium? ISO, USB, CDROM
How was the install medium created
Were the HDs/SSD new or prepared by wiping? dd being the easiest and simplest
If reached the configuration screen what was selected
At what point did the install fail, ie what screen or selection

Is the install being made to a VM?
What is the hypervisor?
What is VM specs? mem etc

Some have certainly had issues when the install medium is NOT creatred in the recommended way - correct way is in the wiki

Some have had issues with hardware and even issues if the hardware is old and slow :-) easiest way to say get something newer

My experience is with HP Microservers N40L and N54L, promox and VMs under that system, others have used a far wider crop of hardware..

Added: I have had installs fail on proxmox when I had other VMs running and doing work in them,  consuming the boxes resources to the point of causing the install to turn up its toes, this has happend at different points
