Hi all.
Just curious to know how old the hardware is that you're using to run SME server?
Mines really ancient, ie, last millenium. :)
I'm running a Pentium III computer that was manufactured in either 1998 or 1999, lol.
Before you fall off your chair laughing, it was a pretty good system in its day.
Its a HP Visualise workstation, which in its day retailed at over $25000USD.
It was designed as a graphics workstation.
I bought it second hand a few years old for $600, around 2004.
It is one of the best P3 systems - dual 1GHZ Pentium III CPUs, a massive 2GB of RAM, an Adaptec RAID controller, dual 1GB NICs, serverworks chipset, etc.
But yes, its probably worth around 5 cents today.
But a really reliable and well built system.
It does the job - it hasn't let me down for over 10 years - with the exception of one hard disk failure.
I love the fact that we can run this fantastic server on such cheap hardware.

I had a SME8 running on a P3 800 MHz till 2 years ago.. he replaced a SME7.6 running on a dual Pentium 1 with 128 MB of ram and 2 SCSI disks
the main issue is not the power (in some cases) but the lack of spare parts :-D

Ha ha!
A Pentium I, lol.
Now thats really ancient!
And yes, SME certainly doesn't need much grunt to do the job.
Re spare parts, yes, I'm a bit concerned about the proprietary HP power supply in my system - its not an easy one to replace.
If it ever releases the magic smoke, I'll probably have to upgrade the system.
