Title: Piwigo as a replacement for Gallery
Post by: holck on September 15, 2016, 06:26:10 PM
Now that Gallery (https://wiki.contribs.org/Gallery3) isn't being maintained anymore, I tried to switch to Piwigo (http://www.piwigo.org) as a replacement. And I'm happy to report that the switch was successful and easy.

I downloaded Piwigo to a folder in an i-bay, created the necessary MySQL user and database, and followed the instructions from the web site. Piwigo has a nice Plugin (Menalto2Piwigo) to make it easy to import an existing Gallery, and it worked nicely. I only experienced two problems: I had to change a local setting ($conf['sync_chars_regex']) in order to make it accept the names of my old Gallery-folders. And a few of my photos had to be rotated after the import - but that was easy to fix.

Piwigo seems to run very smoothly - recommended!

Installed it, it works on SME 9.1

The grant statement for mysql is missing the "select" permissions. And you've misspelled "identified"
If you put this in its own ibay, you will have to remove the default file index.html

I can upload photo's using the pLoader app and if I use the web forms, it all looks good.

<corrected my spelling and removed the not-working upload>

I installed zenphoto recently. Worth a look.

Was pretty easy... this is my rough guide
