Title: Port 25 is close
Post by: kryptos on October 13, 2016, 08:55:01 AM
Hi All,
Good Day!

It's been a long time since I posted here. Im glad SME Server is still very active community. I just want to ask this very quiestion I know there wikis for this concern but there a money involved and I need a sme approach hope there is one. As the subject says I have a problem sending out email via my sme server since recently my ISP decided to block my port 25. Now I have this delima that everyone was not able to send emails. As global mail trend most most email hosting provider offers alternate port for 25 like 587 is there a SME way that we can duplicate this. Hope someone can provide a little bit solution on me for this.

Best Regards,
Rocel

You need to use your ISP SMTP server as a relay. without outgoing port 25, you can't send email directly any longer. I guess your ISP has not blocked port 25 to their own server, so you should be able to just set it from the server-manager (see https://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:Administration_Manual:Chapter13#E-mail_Delivery)

That's the problem our ISP doesn't provide that. And worst it is not reliable also if there is.

When Verizon refused to tell me who runs their outbound spam filter I started relaying through my web site provider over SSL.

Then your only option is to find another smtp relay out there. There are many free ones that allow ~200 mails a day for free. Google is your friend.
