Title: Coldfusion on port 8000
Post by: Jon on September 02, 2002, 07:20:32 AM
Ive installed coldfusionmx in stand alone mode.
It is running on port 8000, and working fine for internal network access.

However I cant work out how to allow external access to it. Anyone who tries to hit it from outside gets no response.
As far as I can tell ipchains has all the ports above 1024 open.

Anyone know what might be stopping it? Could it be squid?

Managed to fix my own problem.
Unlike the windows install, the linux install ( of cfmx ) protects itself against access from outside of the subnet.
There is a file, runtime/lib/security.properties which defines what subnet to limit access to.

jon

would it be possible for you to post a brief HOWTO on the CF install? I've tried installing CF6 on e-smith 5.5 - it worked for a time, but failed after a re-boot.

many thanks,
Geoff
