Title: Failure Notice/ Error message when wrong email address since 9.2
Post by: georgios on May 22, 2017, 09:32:42 AM
Hello, Bonjour...

Since I updated to 9.2 one month ago, I discovered on my admin (postmaster) address, I stop to receive a lot of failure notice.

From ex.:
- I send from a gmail or from a hotmail account to my server a mail to an UNKNOWN user blablabla@mydomain.com

1) the user from gmail or hotmail is now receiving a "reject email" (relay denied)
2) on my /var/log/qpsmtpd logs I can see: (rcpt) check_goodrcptto: recipient blabla@mydomain.com denied

before the gmail/hotmail user was receiving a failure notice error message with "user unknown..." and my admin/postmaster user too.

thanks

What you describe seems normal. Why would the admin be notified each time your server reject an email because the recipient does not exists ?

Hi Daniel,

that's for me a good thing to receive the error on the admin address, here a lot of users have problems when sending us emails.

The other problem is that the sender X is only receiving an error "relay denied" but not a error message with typical "user unknown" so typically he can't know really his error.

Then I guess you're using fetchmail and not direct SMTP. Please open a bug, and describe exactly the error you have, attaching logs
