Having trouble getting SME to install on VMWare ESXi 6.5. Don't see much on the way of "How To's" out there either. I can get it to boot up from the ISO and it goes through the first couple of steps, but it hangs at the "Creating Device /dev/md0". Any ideas???

first of all, how did you setup your virtual machine in ESX?
how big is your virtual hd?
the more info you'll give us, the easier will be helping you
-
Just a simple lab setup of 1 vCPU, 4gb of MEM and 60GB storage. No other VM's are currently running.
-
I don't have any 6.5 to touch, but which kind of template did you use?
please remember that you're our eyes and that we don't see nor know anything about your setup and what you're doing/seeing.. :-)
be verbose, thank you

Just creating a simple VM. SME server isn't a choice under Linux so I used CentOS attached is a screen grab.

ok, during setup you can switch between shells.. try to check if you have any issue (it seems disk/controller related to me)
-
Switch Shells?

I've working conf with ESXi 6.

Care to share more info? What is the host? CPU? Drives? Memory? How you setup the VM?

I got it to work by configuring it as an ESXI 6.0 and later machine. Attached is a pic of the change I made. Seems to be working now.
