Title: Which version of a contrib to use?
Post by: gordon on June 26, 2018, 04:02:25 PM
Another new user question... I want to install NextCloud as an example. I see there are two versions, smeserver-nextcloud nextcloud at https://wiki.contribs.org/Nextcloud (https://wiki.contribs.org/Nextcloud)

So the smeversion has extras for SME Server? What's the difference and am I correct to assume I just want the smeversion every time?

Thanks

Both are installed, nextcloud is the main package rpm, & smeserver-nextcloud contains the customisations to integrate nicely into sme server.
This is typical of most contribs.

Scroll down to the Upgrade section of the wiki article to see that both are named in the upgrade command.
A normal fresh install say of the smeserver-nextcloud package will automatically install nextcloud as a required dependency package.
