I have created a problem for myself once again.
I had a decent, stable upgraded to 5.5 server running for quite some time. I think the HD has started to fail. Every time I have to reboot I get errors that the file system is not clean and needs to run fsck. I do a proper reboot so that is not the issue.
Anyway, the current problem is I have built a new and improved box on a Shuttle SpaceWalker (sweet machine!!!), and would like to move my mail from the soon to be dead server to the new one.
I tried to get smart and just tar the mail files. That resulted in being able to see all of the old emails, but when I tried to send a new email from hotmail I got an error back: This message is looping: it already has my Delivered-To line. (#5.4.6)
Any suggestions better than POPing the email into a mail client from the old and then IMAP it back to the new?
Thanks,
Bill

Use the built-in server-manager backup and restore tools. This moves all configuration and user data, including e-mails from one server to the other.
